Can You See Them? A Scenario Book for the Horror RPG.

Hey all!

Quick updates today. Working on new art for some of these stretch goals, namely The Arcade and Xanthophobia. While I'm going to keep the latter a secret, I can share what the cast from The Arcade will look like. It also includes one returning character from The Diner, who I'm going to keep a secret only to the backers. If you're a backer, you'll see it below.

Hey all!

Some pretty exciting news for you all today. Can You See Them? just got out of its first run of proofing (only about 200 things to fix... new record for me lol). I've already gone through and made adjustments and added in all my page references. This first version will be the version that will appear in the PDF, softcover, and hardcover versions. The VHS version has different dimensions, so I'm going to have to reformat it for that before that one is done, but that should only take about a day of work or so.

I also went ahead and commissioned one more piece of art. The book has nearly zero negative space except in one section, so I've got Matias working on something to go there.

Anywho, I'm happy to say that the books should be proofed, samples ordered, and ready to print and ship the same day that the Pledge Manager opens.

Arcade is also about half way written. Rick's working on the portraits now, but most of the monsters and stuff are done.

If Xanthophobia gets greenlit (we're pretty close!), that may take a little extra time, but it'll be worth it.

Happy Friday! Last night, we unlocked the GM Screens. There will be one for the hardcover/softcover/PDF versions of the book, as well as a version specifically tied to the VHS versions of the book. These GM Screens are designed to help you quickly reference the content in the books to run the scenario smoothly.

I didn't announce it yesterday, but there's also a new stretch goal for initiative cards. This 10-card set is used to determine initiative in the Year Zero Engine. I'll probably include some other cool stuff on the cards, but I haven't decided what yet. So, for now, they're just the numbers.



Arcade is already mid-way through the drafting process and should be ready by next week, which means its PDF will drop as soon as the campaign is over.



Xanthophobia is the next major stretch goal, and it's pretty likely we'll hit it (since we have about two weeks left and we get about 10 backers per day). I'm still meditating on what I want these two unusual books to be about. I'm drawing a lot of inspiration from Wet Ink Games' Cess & Citadel and Into the Wyrd and Wild, so they'll likely end up being weird fiction/gothic horror settings for the Horror RPG. 

More details to come soon. And yes, the Yellow Wrapper version will legitimately come with an NDA.

Hey hey!

Good news, everyone! CYST is officially in proofing. It ended up clocking in at a nice tight 132 pages (about 12 more than I predicted). John's got it now and should have his first round of proofs done by the end of the week, which is pretty rad, considering that we're nearly 30 days ahead of schedule.

So, to celebrate, I've added in a brand-spankin' new stretch goal for you all: the official Can You See Them? GM Screen. Instead of offering a bunch of mechanical data (there'll likely be a Horror one for that, too), it gives a rundown of the scenario with page references tied to the Hardcover/Softcover/PDF (unfortunately, the VHS will have totally different page numbers).


Since it's going to be a screen to use just while you're running CYST, I've managed to keep it relatively inexpensive, too, at only $10 as an add-on. Everyone who backs will get the screen as a PDF.

Thanks again for backing! We're dang close to hitting 1,000, which means I'll get to make Xanthophobia which it's going to be totally bonkers. After that? No clue.
